STREETFIGHT

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

What is Streetfight?

The Streetfight is an underground dance style born in the European hardcore scene, characterised by explosive movements, fighting stances and a defiant attitude. Although it is not an official style within hip hop or classic urban dance, Streetfight has gained a presence at battles, festivals and raves thanks to its visual power and its fusion with other styles such as Jumpstyle, the Hakken or Tekstyle.

Origin of Streetfight

The Streetfight was not officially born in one specific place, but it started to become popular in countries such as France, Spain, Germany and Poland. Even so, many of the dancers themselves consider Spain to be the true origin of the style.

It was dancers from the hardcore scene who started to
combine moves inspired by fights, such as fighting stances, sharp jumps and martial-style steps, with very intense music such as Uptempo, Hardcore and a more recent style known as Newstyle.

What makes Streetfight unique?

  • It has no classical base or formal technique. It is free, aggressive and visual.

  • It is inspired by martial arts, boxing, Krav Maga, MMA, but as an aesthetic device, not a real one.

  • It values stage power, a defiant attitude and the connection with the bass of the music.

  • It is often combined with other styles to create intense sequences in battles or performances.

Basic Streetfight Steps

Although there are no “official” steps, there are common patterns:

1. Guards and footwork

  • Mimic a boxing guard (fists up).

  • Combine it with fast side steps.

2. Air punches and choreographed combos

  • Throw punches to the sides or the front, with no real contact.

  • You can include simulated low kicks or spins.

3. Breaks with jumps or poses

  • Stop abruptly and hold a fighting pose on a cut in the music.

  • Add gestures, looks or “cinematic” moves.

🎧 Tip: Practise with music from 160 to 200 BPM. Look for tracks by Nekroid, D-Fence o MBK to feel the ideal energy.

Important Clarification: Streetfight is not “La Masia”!

One of the most common mistakes is confusing the dance style with the name of a club. It is important to understand:

  • Streetfight is a dance style with combat inspiration.

  • La Màsia is a legendary club in Valencia, famous for its makineo, hardcore and rave scene, but it is not a dance style.

  • At La Màsia people dance styles such as Streetfight and also Newstyle, which we will cover in another guide.

Streetfight Fun Facts

  • Many dancers create their own combos as if they were video game characters.

  • Military-style or sportswear is sometimes worn to reinforce the combat aesthetic.

Guide to Start Dancing Streetfight

  1. Listen to aggressive music and explore how your body responds.

  2. Imitate fighting stances in front of the mirror, exaggerating to create impact.

  3. Mix jumps, kicks and punches to the beat. Use your arms as an extension of the music.

  4. Practise 4- or 8-count combos. Technique doesn't matter, attitude does.

  5. Film yourself and watch your stage presence: look, control, pause, explosion..

The Streetfight is more than a dance: it is a raw, intense and defiant form of expression. Ideal for those who want to break the mould, make their presence felt and channel energy through hardcore music. If you feel rage, power or tension, this style is your battlefield.
